A practical, evidence-based way forward
You don’t just need someone to listen. Therapy should help you understand what is happening and give you practical ways to change it.
Uliana’s work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), one of the most extensively studied approaches to psychotherapy. CBT has strong research support across a range of common mental health problems, including anxiety and depression.

The goal is simple: understand what is keeping you stuck, work on it together, and help you move forward.
A Simple, 3-Phase Plan
Understand what is keeping the problem going
(identify the pattern)
First, we look closely at what happens when anxiety, low mood, or other difficulties show up. We identify the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that form a repeating pattern and may unintentionally keep the problem going.
Start responding differently
(change the pattern)
Once we understand the cycle, we focus on changing what happens inside it. We test practical ways of responding differently—what to do, what to stop doing, and how to handle difficult thoughts and emotions more effectively.
Make the change last
(prevent relapse)
The goal is not just temporary improvement. You learn to recognize your own patterns and respond to them more independently, so the skills you develop can continue helping you after therapy ends.
About our approach
A.J.B. Counseling & Psychotherapy grew out of a U.S.-based clinical practice developed since 2015. Our Polish team works within the same broader clinical system, using shared treatment resources, training materials, and standards of care developed through years of clinical practice in the United States.
Therapists in Poland remain in regular professional contact with clinicians from the U.S. practice and have access to the same clinical resources, treatment frameworks, and ongoing professional consultation. This creates an environment where therapists can continue developing their skills and draw on the experience of a larger clinical team.
That means your therapist is not working in isolation. She is part of a broader clinical practice designed to support thoughtful, consistent, and high-quality care.
Psychotherapist | CBT & Schema Therapy
Therapy with Uliana Naumko
Uliana Naumko works with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional difficulties, relationship stress, grief, and recurring patterns that can become difficult to change on your own.
Her work is primarily informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with elements of Schema Therapy when difficulties are more deeply rooted or repeatedly return despite attempts to change them.
Her approach is practical and collaborative. The goal is not simply to talk about what is happening, but to understand the patterns that keep the problem going and gradually develop different ways of responding.
Uliana works in English, Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian, making therapy accessible to people who may feel more comfortable discussing difficult experiences in the language that comes most naturally to them.
Uliana's approach and background:

What the sessions look like
First sessions: understanding the problem and setting a clear goal
At the beginning, we want to understand exactly what you are struggling with and how the problem is affecting your daily life. Together, we clarify what you would like to change and look at the situations, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be keeping the difficulty going.
The goal is not simply to tell your story. The goal is to build a clear picture of what is happening and where it makes the most sense to begin.
Later sessions: practical work and change in everyday life
Once we understand the mechanisms behind the problem more clearly, therapy becomes more practical. We work on specific ways of responding that you can also try between sessions.
Depending on the problem, this may include changing patterns of behavior, gradually reducing avoidance, returning to important activities, working with persistent thoughts, or practicing new ways of handling difficult emotions.

When anxiety, low mood, or stress keeps going, it can slowly start shaping more of your life.
You may find yourself:
Avoiding more things
Pulling away from people
Losing confidence in yourself
Putting off things that matter
Feeling increasingly stuck or exhausted
Getting used to feeling bad because it has been going on for so long
You don’t have to keep pushing through it on your own. Therapy can help you start changing direction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to do therapy only in English?
No. Uliana works in English, Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian. You can use whichever of these languages feels most comfortable for you.
Can we switch languages during a session?
Yes. You do not have to commit to one language. If it is easier to explain something in another language Uliana speaks, you can switch naturally during the session.
Is therapy only for anxiety or low mood?
No. Uliana also works with grief, relationship stress, recurring emotional patterns, panic attacks, agoraphobia, and other difficulties that may not fit neatly into one category.
Is CBT just about “thinking positively”?
No. CBT is not about convincing yourself that everything is fine. It focuses on understanding how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another and changing patterns that may be keeping a problem going.
What if CBT alone does not feel like enough?
Some difficulties are more deeply rooted or emotionally powerful. In those situations, Uliana can also draw on Schema Therapy to work with longstanding beliefs, emotional reactions, and coping patterns.
Will I have things to work on between sessions?
Often, yes. Therapy is practical, and some of the work may happen between appointments. This could include observing patterns, trying a different response, practicing a skill, or gradually approaching something you have been avoiding.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on the problem, its severity, and your goals. At the beginning, you and your therapist identify what you want to change and then regularly evaluate whether therapy is moving you in that direction.
Are sessions online?
Yes. Sessions take place online, generally through Google Meet, so you can attend from a private location with a stable internet connection.
How much does a session cost?
Current session prices are listed on our Pricing/Cennik page, together with the available consultation options.
What happens during the free consultation?
The free consultation is a brief, approximately 15-minute conversation. You can explain what you are looking for, ask questions, and decide whether this approach and therapist seem like a good fit before scheduling ongoing therapy.
What if I struggle with panic attacks or agoraphobia?
Uliana has been fully trained by Adam Biec in A.J.B. Counseling & Psychotherapy’s specialized treatment protocols for panic attacks and agoraphobia.
Do I need to know exactly what is wrong before I book?
No. Many people know that something is not working but are not sure how to describe it. Part of the first sessions is understanding what is happening, identifying the patterns involved, and deciding where it makes the most sense to begin.
“I always leave our sessions feeling hopeful and happy.”
